Good upgrade?

What are you playing on? (crt/lcd what size)

Probably not worth the upgrade, I would save the money if that's all you can spend.

basically, at that resolution (since ur nativing) ur just gonna be able to bump up to high textures on newer games, and some AA and AF over the 6600GT

im going on the fact that a 7600GT performas as well as a 6800GT or so, and ive had experience iwth 6800GT and my 6600GT of course

I've got a BFG 7600GT that is rocking the house right now. See clocks in sig.

Scoring ~14,500 on 3dmark '03, ~27,100 on 3dmark '01, ~83,000 in AM3

Much faster card in games than my old agp 6800gt @ ultra, and my 6800gs pci-e # 500/1150.

If that's the case, upgrading option for the OP might be a good idea.

Yeah, I'm really happy with this little card. It's running Oblivion very admirably @ 1280x1024. I've got a 7900GT coming by Wednesday, and I'm going to sell one of them. If the 7900 doesn't feel like it's a huge upgrade, I'll be selling it (the 7900). OR, I'll be selling this 7600GT if I fall in love with the more expensive 7900 😀

Absolutely on the PSU. This is one efficient card. I'm running the 430watt version of that PSU w/ my rig in sig, and it's running very well!

Yes. The 7600 GT doesn't even require a 6-pin PCIe molex, much like the PCIe 6600 GT. You're good to go! I'd actually recommend you buy the eVGA version of the 7600 GT, as it comes with a lifetime warranty, and the 90-day step up program. Pretty cheap on the Egg, too!

Sweet! That's music to my ears. Looks like I'm gonna be playing Oblivion maxed out soon enough.
Thanks for helping me out.

Not to mention if he ever wants to slap some aftermarket cooling on there it won't void his warranty.

7600GT is more like 6800Ultra than a 6800GT, it eats the 6800GT for breakfast, so yeah, 6600GT to 7600GT would be a worthwhile upgrade!!!! And because it uses no more power than a 6600GT you have, there are no PSU issues/worries!!
