Good Tv Tuner Card

I heard about the Leadtek, but has anyone experienced anything better? I dont mind spending some cash just want a good card.

I also heard good thing about leadtek as far as quality. The problem is that they have bad driver support. I have an AverTV tuner card that i got for $40... it gets the job done, but I would NOT recommend it. Quality is poor.

I've really liked the ATI Tuner card. Great card, Great software.

I currently use a Pinnacle Tuner card, and I don't care for it. It works ok, but it has poor driver support and it doesn't work well with Windows XP. I wish I had my ATI card back. I sold it to get the pinnacle, because the pinnacle had a lot more extras in way of a remote and connectors in the back. I'm sad I traded it over.

Depends if you just want tuner or capture card. I just got the Asus TV880 Capture card. Was seriously considering Leadtek too (which im sure is good). But the Asus uses a 10-bit chip (I think Leadtek is only 8??) which gives superior overall video quality. I am impressed! THe Asus TV880 was only $5 more than the Leadtek. It has fewer features (No FM), but I can watch TV, record TV shows, capture from my Hi-8 camcorder (main reason I wanted it) all in EXCELLENT quality. I had it installed and was watching TV in 10 minutes and had xferred 8mm in 20 min. CHeck it out...

I have a Leadtek Winfast Deluxe, it works great, the isnt anything really wrong with their drivers, they can just be a pain to upgrade or install, dont use the ones off the cd make sure u get the most recent ones off of leadtek.com

For 50 dollars on newegg.com this is a great card, worth around a 100 bucks considerin it's got TV/FM and overall works and looks magnificently.

Is it possible to run the tv on the secondary monitor considering that you have two monitors running on your comp? I wanted to run my regular desktop on my lcd and have my backup crt run in dual monitor setup but only run the tv. Is this possible?

Yes, but the tv will most likely have to run on the primary display.

Yeah u could get that too work im pretty sure, it works on my geforce 4 ti

Are you looking to just watch TV or do you want to have some sort of PVR setup on there (my guess)? In my quest to find the ultimate homebuilt TIVO solution for the computer, I've heard lots of good things about WinTV - 250 as well as the ASUS card.

I've used a Hauppauge and an ATI, back then though the ATI was terrible because of its drivers, but I'm sure it has improved by now since all their other products have better driver support.

I've had experience with the Hauppauge where if I move the tv program to the second monitor, the screen is blank. Just warning you, not sure if this happens to other TV cards or programs.

Maybe you should try the FlyVideo 3000 instead.
I just bought Asus TV Tuner (yep, the new one, the one w/o FM, with 10-bit blah)... so far, quality is so-so.
DScaler has not support this tuner yet.

I have to say, they give a lot of cool stuffs with it. USB Remote Control Receiver (with 3 LEDs to illuminate your keyboard!) + the remote, tons of software bundles, and Hassle-free setup.

FYI With my ATi's (9700pro, 9600pro and 9700 non-pro) the Leadtek Winfast 2000xp has worked on the second display.

...So, yes, it can work on the 2nd display!

agree whole heartly

i had an AverMedia TV Studio (using the BT878 8-bit conexant/Brooktree chipet)
and the LeadTek using the same BT878 8-bit chipset.

good cards and the chipset has stood the hands of time well.

but anyting using then ew CX23880/1 10-bit Conexant chipset (like the Asus card)
is superior

i got myself the Prolink PixelView Play TV HD for AU$94 (~$50 US) cheaper then the LeadTek
this uses the CX23881 chipset,
i love it !!
comparisons i have done with bt878 based cards shows that a Cx23881 based card has a higher bitrate transfer for the same settings and capture source
awesome quality, its obviously capturing more detail.

the difference is, like most in the IT world, marginal, and if you have a BT878 based card dont be in a rush to drop it.

third party suport for VFW drivers based OS's is minmal for the cx23881
but using iuVCR or VirtualVCR (freeware and the best options settings available IMO) you cant go wrong!

i ohpe this helps

PS
MSI has a cx23881 chipset based card
and
in contray to Prolinks site
the PixelView PlayTV HD is Stereo (in Australia it is using cx23881, if using the cx23880 in the Us it still should be, check out conexants site)
and it can capture at 768x576 (only res i use) rather then just 480x720 like the site says

they sold themself short there
also, dont use the software that came with,
it sux and you will be disappointed
