This is neither pro/con dem or rep. just a statement of politicians in general.

It just so happens to be that John Kerry is leading the way:

<a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://news.com.com/8301-10784_3-9748685-7.html?part=rss&subj=news&tag=2547-
1023_3-0-5">Kerry wants to ban dog fighting images</a>

In all the world and all the internet THIS is what he wants to focus on?

#1 it is protected speech...like it or not

#2 there are websites that are dedicated to images of humans in various stages of death...some even killed right in front of the camera.

#3 there are websites dedicated to showing images of women being raped and tortured. (are they real? are they fake? who REALLY knows?)

but the single most important thing to wipe off the internet is dog fighting!

can anyone say bandwagon?

Unfortunately for most in office, which the American people PUT there, they gauge whats important to them not by what their constituants think, but by raising a wetted finger in the wind.

If only people would realize the power of a vote.

I was unaware of any other high profile government officials taking a stance on this. Wouldn't that be required for a bandwagon?

The only thing that saves the OP from being labeled a total forum troll is the fact John Kerry is not running for Pres on 08. But the urge to kick a man when he is down seems to run in bullies everywhere.

yes that and the fact that I prefaced it with

"This is neither pro/con dem or rep. just a statement of politicians in general."

I would be saying the same thing if it was anyone from any other party.

The net in it's current form has been around since what? '93?

there has been a lot of dirty nasty stuff online since then...you never heard of

consumption junction? ogrish? or any number of "death sites" that cater to the darker side of human nature.

but stopping that and keeping those images off the net is not nearly as important as dog fighting.

I was unaware of any other high profile government officials taking a stance on this. Wouldn't that be required for a bandwagon?

the ONLY reason Kerry or any other politician is even remotely interested in this issue is because of Michael Vick and the news that story generated.

And if nothing else---politicians address issues with one bill at a time---I can readily concede--that in a perfect world---this may not be the number one priority politicians should have---but my number one priority may ignite a firestorm of protest and just not be politically doable now---and may or may not be doable later.

And surely you have someone representing you in the house, Senate, and executive branch. And you are free to write your representatives and ask them to address your number one concerns.

And in the grand scheme of things---I think its well within John Kerry's mandate to introduce such a dog fighting bill---at least it may be doable and then they can move on to other more contentious issues.

I know of far worse places on the net.

Wheezer, this happens all day, every day with our leaders and lawmakers. I would be witty about it, but I'm tired and it's bed-time.

Anyway, I agree with you.
