Welp I just bit the bullet and purchased a dual core X2 4400+ for 229 delivered to replace my 2.4 ghz overclocked 3200+ single core winchester I figured its a good drop in replacment that should let me keep my 2.4 Ghz at least overclock and have dual core to play w/ without to much trouble. Worthy upgrade at this price? not sure how I'm gonna do w/ a dually again, my last one was a set of PPGA celrons on an Abit BP6, boy that brings back some memories lol. welp hope the upgrade goes well and I don't have to Nuke Windows :)

Yup, I just did the same thing. 3200+ Winchester say hello to X2 4400+ Toledo! :) Waiting on Zalman 9500 & P180 case to migrate to. Looking forward to the next bottleneck. :p

Yeah I plan on Recycleing my TT Big Typhoon to cool this monster and already have a X1900Xt so other than Oblivion everything I play runs great at 1600x1200 w/ AF/AA :) may have to get a replacment for my DFI chipset fan and possibly some better cooling for the PWM area too w/ the new chip.

bah edit for spelling again /sigh

the 3800+ is a screaming deal but It just wasn't a big enough upgrade in performance from my overclocked winshester and still only has 512k of cache, I figured most X2s top out a 2.6-2.8 ghz w/ good air cooling so I my aswell get the extra cache as its not that much more cash and gets me a higher default multipler which can help as my memory tops out a 207 mhz w/ tight timings and doesn't like high voltage or dividers other than 166 very much

I'll be selling my 4400+ for 175 shipped if anyone here is interested. Only caveat is that I have to build my conroe first, which may be about 2 weeks. PM me though.

Yeah, I currently have a Zalman 7700cu on the winny, but figured wtf... why not get the shiny new 9500? I have installed it into a client's P180 and just loved how it pushed the air out the back. I could care less about the blue fan light. There's no windows in my cases. Function over form baby!

Yeah the 9500 was my 2nd choice after the TT BT actualy I needed something to cool the chipset and power circuts in addition to the cpu so I figured a down blowing HSF would work better in my case. plus it was a helluva a lot cheaper than the 9500 at the time I bought it. (still is for that matter lol) :)
