I will be rebuilding my desktop pretty soon, within the next couple of months. I'm contemplating of moving to a higher resolution screen from the current 17" SXGA screen.

Is there any insight anyone here can give regarding the prices of LCDs in the next year or so. Would it be better to buy in the near future; or would it be better to hold off until later summer or the fall. Either option would be open to me. If the prices are likely to change that much between now and the end of the year, then I would like to get it done as soon as possible, otherwise, I can wait.

I would be particularly interested in the 23-24" WUXGA screens.

Thanx in advance.

You got that right, I'm waiting for LED so I can pick up some cheapo conventional backlit LCDs.

The Dell E-series 22" model, while not an Ultrasharp, looks great on paper for the price, and is HDCP-ready.

Well, waiting is always better for the wallet, but then you'll want something different or a new technology will come out and you'll want to wait more. When I bought my 26" widescreen LCD for my bedroom, it was a little over $1000 with rebate, now you can get them for $500 or so. Same goes with monitors. I just bought a 22" widescreen for $329, but 6 months ago, that same monitor was $600 or so. Now seems like the time to be getting them as the prices are coming down on the sizes that make the most sense for an upgrade (going from a 19" to a 22" or bigger).
