Not only that, try to create a rapore with the person you talk to.. Maybe next time their hiring (if you didn't get the job the first time) they will remember you and call to see if you are available.
Especially ask questions. What made them select other candidates over you - what skills/experience can you add/improve to have a better chance at similar positions.
prolly a lil much for blockbuster... but hey - it's good practice for when you need to do this.
