Cooler Master CAC $84.50
CHAINTECH VNF4/Ultra 82.50
Amd Athlon 64 3500+ 260.00
Corsair Value Select 512x2 80.00
2 Maxtor DiamondMax 10 SATA in RAID 222.00
Plextor PX-716A 120.00
DVD Player 35.00
eVga GeForce 6800 GT 299.00
Panasonic Floppy 6.00
Winxp Home 100.00
Audigy 2 ZS 103.00
THERMALTAKE Silent Boost 30.00
TAX 117

This is a system for a friend, how do I explain why an athlon 64 3500+, although less mhz, is faster than a similiar P4?

Also, what would you change keeping the price the same?

Thanks

You don't measure the horsepower of an engine by RPM. RPM is usless unless you know the torque so you can get horsepower. Knowing the clockspeed of a CPU is also useless, you need to know the IPC to get a meaningful measure. Which has more power, a honda 4 cylinder @ 8000rpm or a 426 hemi @ 5000rpm? You see why clockspeed by itself is a useless measure of power?

i have a diamondmax 10, works great. Remember if your installing windows xp, it will only recognize 131000 mebs of it. So make sure you slipstream SP2 or SP1 into your windows XP installation. That or you will have to install windows on 131 gig and then install sp1 so it recognizes it. I dont know any other problems with maxtor drives as knothead34 have said...

There is no real world performance from usi9ng RAID. I would just get a large Seagate drive.
