Good summary of the different car makes(Toyota, Chevy, Ford, BMW, etc.)

Anyone know where I can get a good summary of the different car makes...like their general quality/reliability, which car segment they are best known for(like if they make the best trucks), general background info(like how the Lexus is part of Toyota). I was just interested in reading up on the different car makes before I go out car buying(which is a few months off anyway). Thanks.

Consumer reports, although I think they may be slightly biased towards some brands.

Edit: It's also a good idea to talk to a mechanic you trust and he can give you some good input.

Consumer Reports is horribly biased, check out edmunds.com, they have editor and end user reviews of any car made for sale in the US within the past 10 years.

Blatantly biased? So I shouldn't do research on that site?

What price range are you looking for?

What will be the car's purpose? Driving to work and back, lots of highway driving, etc.?

Do you have any preference in brand? How long do you plan to keep this car?

Honestly, if you clearly identify what you want and how much you'll spend, deciding on a brand/model should be very easy. The most you should have to do is pick from two or three choices.

I've been looking at entry level luxury....like $25K. I just wanted to know the strengths and weaknesses of the different makes mostly out of curiousity.

I've been looking at entry level luxury....like $25K. I'll probably keep it for ~5 years....don't really know for sure. No preferences either....just good reliability and not a horrendous gass guzzler. I just wanted to know the strengths and weaknesses of the different makes mostly out of curiousity.
Doh, I hit quote instead of edit😱
