While they may not be good studying, they are AWESOME! I just heard their cd for the first time last week and i am hooked.

Gangsta Rap

edit: I personally go for something easy listening, such as jazz, classical, chillout, or groove salad on winamp radio.

Bela Fleck and the Flecktones do a great jazz/bluegrass instrumental mesh that i really find relaxing, you can torrent their shows at bt.etree.org for free (and legally). most of the time the quality is pretty good there.

classical music is always good as well, its what i used to listen to in high school when i was studying or writing anything.
