Good starting job?

I guess it's about time I got a job but I dunno where to start. I'm up for pretty much anything except working in the food industry. Any suggestions?

Basic info:
22
I've never had a true job, closest thing was two years of apprenticeship in HS
I have no problem making minimum wage

I'm in college right now. The apprenticeship was for instructional technology. Basically we went around the school district repairing/setting-up computers and networks. We also dabbled in web design, flash animation, and video editing.

Yes, I'm one of those spoiled kids everyone on here seems to hate. I need some money on the side for gas, alcohol on occasion, a laptop, and things for my car. I figure if the rents are paying for room and board, food, and the car/insurance it's the least I can do.

Ya got that right buddy. 😛

Are you living at home with your parents or are they paying for a place for you?

I hope you realize the flames are coming... I can feel the heat already.

The best thing you can do is get an internship with a company in the field you are studying.

I'm not one to bash on someone because their parents have money and pay for everything... Well actually I am.

Good luck in life.

Sigh, just another amercan kid whoose family won't teach him about bussiness. You aren't Jewish, Chinese, or Italian, are you? If you were you'd have been setup with some decent choices by now. Especially if they were immigrants.

If it's just about the money, remember capitalism is just a game. Pick one you can win, learn the rules, the ropes, and keep your feet under you. Your problem is choice. My advice: make one and see where it takes you. Life is a journey, not a destination.

I'm ready.

I kid, I kid.

No, I don't live at home. My current program of study is English. I tried comp-sci but I was an utter failure at both programing and math. I dunno how many tech related jobs there are in the english department but I guess it can't hurt to ask.

At least he admits to it. It's not his fault his parents raised him in that mentality. Should all parents force their kids to wear hand me downs and start laboring at 13?

No. You really should start earlier than that for minimum whining and tantrums.
