Someone recommend a good stability routine thats pretty much die hard to test for 8-12 hours?

1. Prime95 ? By itself?
2. 3dmark 2000? by itself?

Gimme a good cocktail to burn up this cpu.

RC5. For however long you own your computer
Seti @ Home. For however long you own your computer
Gamma Flux. For however long you own your computer
OGR. For however long you own your computer

Come to the distributed computing forums for help if you need any, how to help Team AnandTech out by joining us 😉

Pick'n choose from one of the above, its only best to run one at a time, as they all fight for resources which becomes inefficient.

stop recruting when someone is just asking for a stability test program damnit

Rc5 certainly doesnt test stability at all since the memory access are minimal

i recommend Prime95 by itself will load your CPU to 100% and memory being accessed

if you want it real hard

run Prime95 in the background when you infinitely loop Quake2 crusher

I agree. While I think OGR is a good cause, I don't think it stresses the computer enough. I can run it just about forever with my computer too overclocked, but combinations of programs that do more global "burning-in" will crash it at the same settings.

I would avoid Quake 3, because it seems to have a memory leak or something when the demo is looped.

I like running the CPUBurn programs in conjunction with the intro flyby of Unreal Tournament. I run it for about 6-10 hours or so. Good test of stability. If it runs that fine, then drop your CPU down just a notch for added cushion (eg. 2%) and your system will be rock solid.

rc5,seti, ogr etc....... don't really stress all of your computer. my old c550 would run rc5 for weeks on end with no problems, but would crash after 5 or more hours of UT. I usually do what xtreme recommends, that is run prime95 while looping q2 crusher at 1600x1200 in software mode.
