They are both 3mm but 5mm will fit with drilling. The power is 3v and the hd is 5v.

ooops, almost forgot, i replaced mine with 5v version. 3v version will make too bright since it
will be driven by 5 volts and probably wont last long..

mandrake,

looked at the shack, didn't see 3mm leds of any color!

do you know if nnyyy is correct about the voltage levels?
is the power really 3v & hd really 5v?

dont know anything about voltage though.

This is a 2.2V LED.. I'm using one right now.. it's not as bright as the higher voltage ones but then again those were 5mm's so I don't have any 3mm I know of to compare.. it lights my room at night and glows a very nice vibrant blue with the slightest hint of violet..

Either way I don't think I'd want any brighter because the vibrance of the color was all that mattered to me and it has plenty of that for a 3mm LED.. if you want flashlight bright mod the case to fit a 5mm (cheaper anyway)..

Yes the HD is 5v and the power is 3v. I replaced both with 5mm 5v leds and I can't really see the power light up. The 3v's isn't enough to light up the 5v led. The HD led is perfect though.

From all my research 3mm blue do not exsist. I replaced my LED's in my Antec 830 and used 5mm for both HD and Power. The power is a 3volt off my mobo and 5 volt off the HD, so just get what voltage matches your mobo specs, the size shouldnt make a difference.

goto eLED. They sell all sorts of blue led's in both 5mm and 3mm. There prices are much better than Radio Shacks as well. All of these led's listed will work fine with your mods.

I just changed the led's in my Asus DVD drive (5mm), Panasonic floppy (3mm), and Rheobus (5mm) with blue ones! Looks awesome...

Oh nice find they do have 3mm blue at that site. I stand corrected. They do all seem to be close to 5 volt, which is no big deal though.

3MM blue LEDs do exist. mouser electronics has them in from time to time, and Fry's has em too. also, when searching, you might want to search for size T1 which is 3mm, T1 3/4 is 5mm. enjoy.

cobrasvt, thanks for the great tip! fyi everybody, this is THE site to get anything led - their selection is unmatched & their prices are great - they're clearly geared to selling to other businesses, not consumers, so they don't have to do the major markup. i got this and am thrilled. while i was at it i picked up a couple of spare blue's & also a bunch of reds - now i've got blue for power & red for hd - very nice! and all for ~$9, way less than i'd have paid from any enthusiast site. if you want led's eled is the only way to fly!
