Good "Sound-proofing" for Window Wall?

So I have a nice apartment basically on campus (at a University. In Texas. In Austin). One entire wall is composed essentially of glass in the form of sliding doors overlooking a small balcony which in turn overlooks the inside courtyard area of my apartment complex.

A general problem with apartments close to campus is that they are inhabited by very loud people, often under the influence of alcohol. As a result, it can get very noisy in the courtyard area, which in turn is very annoying. I was wondering if you all knew of some kind of efficient sound-dampener to at least lessen the amount of noise I hear on weekends (be it mindless screaming, loud music, etc). I have of course thought about curtains (currently, there are vertical blinds there), but I am unsure as to how efficient they'd be soundwise.

What do you all think?

Thanks!

It ain't cheap but a layer of plexiglass over the glass doors will cut a lot of noise. Something to try that is cheap but I have no idea if it will work would be to apply a layer of heat shrink plastic insulation film over the glass doors.

3M version here
