I'm 20 too - and I happen to think the 90's churned out some awesome hip hop songs, but what you listed is not.

You consider those good and old? I wouldn't consider them either of them. Listen to some older Rakim, Wu-Tang, GZA, Big L, Big Pun, Notorious BIG, Tupac, Jay-Z, Ice Cube, Common, KRS-One and AZ. There are others, but those are all good that have some good older rap. I am only 16 years old, but mostly listen to older hip-hop as newer stuff sucks.

get 'the roots - things fall apart' album. also get 'a tribe called quest' albums. get 'talib kweli and dj hi-tek are reflection eternal - train of thought'. thats a good start. thats real hip hop, not the crap polluting radio airwaves.

Basically every song from Illmatic is awesome. It is my favorite album of all time.

also get 'a tribe called quest' album

I will also recommend A Tribe Called Quest. I can't believe I forgot to mention them in ym first post. Midnight Marauders and The Low End Theory should definitely be checked out.

Theres also Boogie Down productions. Brand Nubian, De La Soul, Outkast, Dr. Dre, Fugees, Beastie Boys etc.

If these are what you consider good old hip hop songs, you won't actually like REAL good old hiphop songs. I'm just going to list a variety of songs from my playlist...some are older than others.

Warren G - Regulate
Blackstreet - No Diggity
def Squad - Rappers delite
Bone thugs - crossroads
dmx - whats my name
dr dre and ice cube - natural born killaz
anything from Dr Dre's "The chronic"
the entire 'liquid swords' album by GZA
ice cube - it was a good day
anything by Nas
notorious BIG - hypnotize, big poppa
next - too close
outkast - entire stankonia album
snoop dogg - doggstyle album
wu-tang clan - triumph
nwa - straight outta compton

this is just a few songs. like i said, some older than others

I think Big Puns Capital Punishment is really underated. Even Big Pun as a rapper was really underated.

a friend introduced me to 'liquid swords' in h.s. because he was a huge wu fan, and i was just blown away by this album. i still listen to it on a fairly consistent basis and that album singlehandedly made me appreciate the wu a lot more than i originally did.

Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) was basically the album that got me interested in rap since my older brother listened to it a lot.
