I'm thinking of moving in with a few guys to a house that only has 3 bedrooms which will all be full. But there's also a huge den that has 3 solid walls, and a 4th wall that has a big open archway (the width of about two doors). Is there a simple way to install some temporary doors or something similar into the den without making it permanent? A few screws in the walls would be fine but I don't think I'd be allowed to start remodeling...
Good solution to enclose a room without a door?

I don't know the situation here, but if the guy that's staying has no real privacy issues, a simple rod + curtain might work . . ..
I'd be the guy staying in the den, and I'm looking for something more substantial than a rod + curtain.

I rent a couple of rooms and a bathroom, connected by a hallway that continues down to the other two bedrooms. These are all at the top of a stairway just as you turn right, the other two bedrooms are to the left. I just put up a header (couple of 2x4's sandwiched vertically) and hung a bi-fold door (78" tall) from them, works great. I did that because the ceiling is about 15' high and I didn't want to build a wall that high. The header sits atop the very ends of the far bedroom and bathroom trim, which I screwed to at an angle from the top, so there will be ZERO holes visible or marks on the wall when it comes down. (header has 1/8" clearance from each wall, so no contact with painted surfaces)
Easy to trim out and have it look fine from the outside too. (but I do have doors on the bathroom and bedrooms) The doors are cheap and already painted, good solution but I don't know how big your opening is. You may need something like sliding closet doors, those come in all sizes and would be easy to install as well. (get mirrored and double your space!)

Are you more concerned with sound escaping or the security of your stuff?
If it's neither and you just want a door that closes all the way, this would probably be your simplest solution:

LOL, thanks. Like I said nothing but the very top 2x4 touches anything, and that only rests (with a few self-tapping screws) on the other door's trim. When I leave I just back out the screws and there will be no hint it was ever there except for (4) holes on the top of the door trim, which you will never see.
If you look closely enough, not even the side piece touches the wall. And, the lower of the two 2x4's is not touching the door trim, although it looks like it is.
Measure twice, cut five times is my motto.
