I recently re-worked my ageing WHS v1 based home server. I updated it to windows 8, and am using the new storage spaces for protection against drive failure.

one of the feature's i'm missing is the automatic nightly backups of all my home's computers to the WHS. Not a big deal, i'll just use windows 7's built in system image backup and point it to a network share on the win8 server. Or so I thought.

it turns out that, since my system drive has a 512 byte allocation size, windows 7 system image backup blows up when trying to save to the windows 8 storage space, which is formatted to have a 4k cluster size. I can't reformat the storage space to be smaller - 4k is the minimum. so it seems that windows image backup is out, unless I buy a 512 byte drive and put it in the server box (but exclude it from the storage spaces).

TLDR: i'm looking for a good backup program that can do scheduled, incremental image backups to a network location. ideally a free one , or one with a license that allows 6+ PCs.

thanks!
