Good software to test for read errors in files?

Does anyone know of any good software that could test for read errors with files currently on hard drive?

Trying to troubleshoot a problem I was having with 11.2 Catalyst, and found possible cause, but wishing to eliminate all file read errors to continue my testing.

Any suggestions would be most helpful.

Used chkdsk thorough, and passed, but it did *not* find the files that are corrupted at all, and passed them as okay.

I'm wondering if there is an application that can for example tell if there is an error in an AVI/MP3 file regardless of it can play partly.

yah my xbox1 with xbmc will play the most corrupted of all avi/mp3 files and keep on trucking. the newer versions (pc/etc) aren't so forgiving.
