Good snowboard retail site?

Have any of your guys have any experience purchasing snowboard / bindings / boots online? Or is it always better to go local? My first package was purchased online (something called Performance Snowboarding, but they went down somehow) and I am about to invest ~500-600 on my next package.

Any info/ tips on buying snowboards would be greatly appreciated.

Zim's up! Did you have your breakfast of Steak, Eggs and Brandy yet Zim? 😛

Boards you could buy online, but personally I think boots are a different story. You can't stress enough how important it is to try the boots on first before you buy them.

Well it's probably preferable to buy local, and if it was in the spring or something you get snag a nice deal on some stuff... But you can save tons more and have a lot more selection online, at least compared to here cause theres only like 1 shop. Performance Snowboarding merged, or maybe just changed their name and stuff. PS was awesome for all kinds of gear, but their new company sucks. I don't remember the name actually, but probably not worth your time! CCS is the bigname one, but their stuff is pretty expensive, unless you're looking for a Forum or whatever they sell. Bigdeal.com is good, the-house.com is alright... I don't remember the rest I have used...

LOL Evadman 🙂

I'm enjoyng a  and watching the Giants game 🙂

PS was really great for anybody's first package. I am currently in the market for a Burton Uninc or something nice. I will go out to some local shops and see if they have the 2003 model deal. I wouldn't mind getting a 2004 if I can find it for under $400.

BTW, I basically know nothing besides Burton. Anything else out there as good as they are?

Thanks for all the input. Keep 'em coming 🙂

I haven't owned a Burton but I've owned two K2 boards (first one was stolen :|) and they were/are very good boards. No problems whatsoever and I go snowboarding a lot. I had a Dart 155 and now own a Pressure 156. Older model but still good.

For boots and bindings I would recommend going to a local shop and testing them out. If you find a cheaper price online then order online but definately test them out locally. Good boots and bindings are very important, maybe moreso then the board. Boards can be pretty similar and the average person wouldn't know the difference between them but you don't want to be caught riding with a crappy pair of boots/bindings that are uncomfortable and are prone to breaking. Most people like strap bindings which are fine. I have a pair of Clicker step-ins and haven't had a problem with them (I do mostly park-type riding too).

As another member said, just purchase hte board online and get the Bindings and boots from a retail store where you can try it on.

I guess K2 makes nice boards also. Just not that many stores around me carry them. How about Santa Cruz? Do they also make quality board with light core?

The Burton UnInc 158 looks promising and I am planning to get it. Anybody know if the Seven series gives nice ride also?

I haven't rode one but I would venture to say Santa Cruz boards are ok. Don't know the Seven series, haven't heard of them. For the most part unless you buy a $75 no-name board you're going to get something ridable. Don't spend over $300 though, you're just wasting your money there unless you really need something that expensive. But sticking with Burton, K2, Forum, Division 23, M4, any of those will get you a good board IMO. Plus others, those are just off the top of my head.
