good simple email & web server program?

i was trying to setup my own little ghetto server to study on my own. i am currently looking at windows 2000 server but exchange seems a bit daunting and lot of time to work. i want to start out very slowly and want to start with simple programs. i would appreciate some reommendation of any newbie friendly web server and email server. thanks in advance

get easyPHP, it bundles mysql, apache, and php into a single install. Easy to set up, doesn't have a mail server, but you can do anything else with it. I use it on my XP to config my phpBB before I put it on my web hosting
