    Hi,

    I'm looking for a good forum where I can ask questions about doing repairs on my car myself. I've been doing all major and minor repairs on the past few cars I've had, but am stumped when it comes to a problem that just developed on my current car (a 95 ford escort). Does anyone know of a place where I could try to find some help diagnosing this problem?

    Thanks,
    Kevin

    You could try here, but then you'd actually have to tell us what's wrong with the car.

    You have a '95 Escort? I found your problem.

    Actually, my '94 Escort had recurring electrical problems that no one could seem to pin down. Another user on this forum did as well. For a moment I thought he might have been the poor soul who bought that car from me.

    Alright, when the engine is under load when accelerating, it bucks a little. Engine (think it is engine, not drivetrain) spasms a few times when putting normal pressure on the accelerator. When doing a flat-out acceleration, flooring the gas and running each gear to around 4k rpm, does not happen. Happens in all gears, except 1st, though I think the only reason I haven't seen it in first is because I usually push it hard in 1st because engine is pretty weak (1.9 liter straight 4) (what a great sentence). Replaced fuel filter last weekend, and put injector cleaner in at same time. Plugs and wires replaced about 10k miles ago. Anyone have any ideas on what to try here?

    Check your trouble codes, you can find out how here.

    Edit;
    Forgot to mention, you do not have O.B.D II.

    Where is the data link connector that this page mentions? I've looked around the engine compartment for something resembling it, and read through the haynes repair manual, but found no mention of it's location.
