I will be consulting with a client today about flat screen TV's and presentations. They had looked at what I did for my employer's confrence rooms, and wanted something similar.
We made an s-vid and a DVI cable available at the conference table for laptops with conduit in the floor. Personally, I don't like it that much, too much futzing around with the lappy getting resolutions right, etc.
They will be sheetrocking soon, and my specialty is getting providions for all media in place for current and future needs. I ask the questions that everyone else may have neglected. They can pay me a little bit now, or pay a carpenter a lot later
What I want to propose for them is a dedicated AV computer connected directly to the monitor, with wireless keyboard and mouse. I can optimize the video and audio that way.
They will likely want to present things like autocad drawings, and I heard from the network guy there that the main engineer talked about some system "where any computer can connect to that big screen with co-ax", and he wanted to run presentations from his office.
Now that is likely the lamest idea I have personally ever heard, since control of the material becomes a real issue.
My workaround for that was using RDP to his<or any> comp, and making sure his current setup can support 1366 x768.
What do you think?
