I'm planning on setting up a small server at home for personal use, but i'm having trouble deciding the distro to use...

What distro do you guys recommend for a server??
What are your thoughts on Gentoo?

Thanks for your time

Don't get me wrong, I love Gentoo, and I run it on my personal servers, but Debian is what you want for ease of use.

I'm using Mandriva, for me it' s the most easyto work on a workstation without spending time on NVIDIA drivers instalation. Working out of the box. Exactly what I've dreamed fro a Linux distro. Intalled Kubuntu too. Damm, it's a puzzle, but I learn as I go. ( If I have time... )

I have a home file/web server and a few work servers built on CentOS (it's a binary-compatible Redhat derivative). It works great, but I mostly continue to use it because I've been using Redhat for 6 years. If I was to re-learn a server distro though, I would start out with Debian.

I would have the easiest time administering Suse personally. Debian/Ubuntu would be my next choice.
