Any recommendations on a good sci-fi movie? I'd prefer something on Earth and with humans... nothing 10,000 years out where humans don't exist.

fantastic tv series i'd recommend is Battlestar Galactica. However, it's closer to a futuristic drama than a real technology jargon based

Movies
Gattaca- I love this movie
Serenity- Watch Firefly first though. Great Series and great movie offshoot
Fifth Element- Funny, Good action, genuinely entertaining
Chronicles of Riddick- Okay, people hated this movie. But I loved it. Thought it was a great movie, even though parts were nonsensical

Bought it because of the hype. Couldn't even finish it. Let someone borrow it a week later and told them to keep it. $20 gone and I am happier not having that PSO in my home.

1984 was the worst movie ever created right along with THX1138.
The book of 1984 was great.

Gattaca was OK, The Island was great, Firefly is great.

No way man, Gattaca was FAR deeper of a movie than The Island, not to mention the fact that the premise behind the island makes no sense, clones don't magically remember what the person they were cloned from did their whole life, thats total BS, meanwhile Gattaca is something that WILL deffinitely have to be faced in the future.

Eh, it's good fun. Like Starship Troopers. Just enjoy the mindless action, never mind the plot and dialog.
