Good ruggedized camera?

Just looking for something that'l fit in my pocket and still be fairly rugged with decent picture quality. I do a lot of hiking/backpacking/rafting and such in all seasons, so anything water and/or shock and/or temperature resistant would be nice. I barely know the tip of the iceberg when it comes to cameras, so any advice/recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
