Link - Covers using the Media Center, Netflix streaming, Wi-Fi Adapters, streaming media via Windows PC or a MAC, quieter fans, DIY VGA Output, and using Transcode 360.

I'll be adding this to the FAQ.

edit: Does anyone know of a similar guide for the PS3 or Wii?

i'd like to add that it's good to use it for voice chatting while playing ps3 games that don't support voice chat.

Yes, yes it does. I have a hard time streaming via my older version of Windows XP Media Center now. The fact that MS will be providing no more updates to it means that I will eventually be migrating to at least Vista Premium sometime down the road. However, streaming through WMP and the 360 Dash works just fine for now.

If you're paying $9-$17 a month for Netflix anyways, the cost of Vista Premium - Ultimate should make it worthwhile.

i have an external 320gb hdd connected to my X360. I dump all my videos, music, photos etc there and view them through the console.

Yeah definitely, but I don't think I'd want to install Vista on my current machine. I'd have to get a new one

Nice, I didn't know about the Netflix streaming via Vista. I just signed up for a Netflix trial and will definitely try this out. Thanks for the link.

I got Vista for free, and I still think I got ripped off.

Tversity is great. Their website has everything you need to set it up for ps3 streaming. Once you get you media files added to the server, the overhead is really small and it auto checks for new media at an interval of your choosing.

Solves the "data file not supported" message.

Also, google now has a google desktop gadget that will do streaming of media.

WMP 11 also does it though I prefer tversity. The front end for folder views on the PS3 with tversity is much better. Also works for Wii and 360 through either web browser for Wii or media center portion of 360.

I even got it to work with my iPhone but the overhead to convert the stupid video was ridiculous, took forever and make the PC almost unresponsive.

Funny, I paid for Ultimate three times and I don't.

Funny, you must not have experienced the same bug I did. That's not unusual, bugs don't always manifest themselves on all systems. The time I spent reformatting and reinstalling after unrecoverable "OS not found" errors on two separate occassions over the course of a few months was not worth the minor benefits of Vista, so I think I'm justified in feeling ripped off.

I'm sorry, but the Vista defenders are as bad as the people who blame the users who get RRoDs for mistreating their 360s. They act as if all of us who have had issues with Vista are either imagining it or are making it up because we're afraid of change. Vista is far from perfect.

The point I was making to Queasy is that money is not what is keeping many people from switching to Vista. Your experience notwithstanding, I don't believe that point can be disputed.
