Finally converted my last BES user to a new device.

Blackberry Enterprise Server, may you rot in a fiery hell.

BES is a great system, it's nice to have all cell phones in one system that can be managed. No need to setup redirect pop accounts and crap like that. I was hating it when they started to do the BYOD stuff when I was in IT, having to configure and manage each phone individually. I'm surprised Apple or Google has not made a BES like system TBH. I wonder if Blackberry patented that so no one else can do it.

we have a couple more blackberry users left, one is about to retire...jeebus he might even be the last one, but for some reason i think there are 2 or 3.

fortunately where I am now BES hasnt been a headache [or someone else fixed some headaches already]

last place i was at that had BES and exchange was sort of a pain in the ass.

I'm still supporting BES, and it really isn't bad. BES10 is a nice product, and the bb10 phones are very usable. I do want to migrate our environment over to iOS/Android, but I can't get budget and time to evaluate and purchase a new MDM system.

Side note, BB10 now natively supportIng android app apk installs with no sideloading required will probably extend the amount of time before I get approval to migrate.

BES is biggest pain in the butt. Even with a ton of system resources thrown at it and only 100 users it is still dog slow. It also eats a lot more exchange IOPS that I would expect for some reason.

ActiveSync > BES.

The last two iterations weren't as bad, but it's still terrible and unnecessary.

Try supporting it in a multitenant Exchange infrastructure some time. Talk about fucking garbage.

Also, Android, Windows Mobile, and iPhones are all vastly superior to blackberries.

I can imagine... that or multiforest. The BES server is always some how up in the top ten for any WAN link that an exchange server is on the other side. You rarely see the CAS (activesync) servers in there so what is BES move around?

Amen. I've got one user desperately clinging to his blackberry Q10 while the rest of the company is 100% iPhone with activesync. I'll let you guess who opens 99% of our smartphone related support tickets. Cant wait until RIM goes under completely.
