renters insurance is pretty cheap regardless of where you get it, afaik. Just go with a reputable insurance co.

Most companies that carry auto insurance will also have renters. If you get it through the same company, you may also get a multi-policy discoiunt

I always had my renter's insurance through the same company that had my auto policies. Nowdays, I do the same with my homeowners policy.

I had Farmer's several years ago, when my garage got burglarized. They were kind of a PITA to deal with, (stupid claim's examiner), but they did pay off. I just had to provide "acceptable proof" on much of my custom salt-water fishing equipment before he would pay. I guess it was understandable, since all he had to work with was a Bass Pro catalog, and that doesn't cover what I had...I had to provide him with a suitable catalog so he'd understand what was what...otherwise, "they dun good".

Has anyone ever filed a successful claim on a renter's policy? Just wondering what the point is I suppose.

I had a vehicle stolen with some computer equipment in the back.

SF renters policy picked up the loss after the deductible. I provided a listing and cost evidence of the equipment. Check from agent available the next day.
