I would like something inbetween 100-150$ and it need to be reliable. I previously had a crucial ssd that failed on me a few weeks after warranty was up and I refuse to use their products. I've had good experiences with intel 2.5" ssds from work, because I do alot of read/write/overwrite and it's been fine for 5 years now. I'm thinking maybe WD m.2 but I'm not so sure. Any recommendations?

How reliable is it though?

It comes with a 5 year warranty, so I'd say it's pretty reliable. ;)

If you are concerned though, go ahead and order a Samsung 970 PRO since it uses MLC NAND, and has twice the write ratings as all other drives (but still has only a 5 year warranty).

If reliability is the concern I'd only look at Samsung SSDs personally. At that price point though why are you not considering SATA drives? More capacity for less money. The speed difference in the real world is not that huge. I have a 970pro just because, not for any real benefit to me.

Samsung drives are the "gold standard" no doubt, and I own quite a few. However, despite how well they have performed for me over the years, when a person's biggest concern is reliability, they also should have an external drive for backups. I personally keep two external backups because I cannot risk losing my files/data.

I don't know how many people I've seen over the years on this site (new members all the way up to "lifers" who've been here for 18 years), create a panicked thread asking for help because their drive died/had errors, and they either lost all their data, or paid hundreds of dollars to ship it of to a data recovery company. Even that 2nd option is hit or miss on what they can save.

Backups, backups, backups!

Crucial is one of the more reliable brands out there.

Life is a gamble.
