Ok so I loved Warcraft 2, Starcraft, and Warcraft 3, but World of Warcraft is clearly not the same kind of gameplay at all. What is another good game similar to those?

Rome: Total War is the ONLY real-time strategy game. (Well, okay, the other two in the series, as well). The rest are just economy simulators with some military units to defend or attack the base/city.

rome total war is not real time for the strategy parts of it.

hell, you can completely avoid the real time part of it (but your general will do something stupid like get himself killed)

not that HW2 isn't an excellent game with some great eye-candy, mind you . . .

but I think HW1 was much better, especially in the story department. It was so fantastic . . . you being the last surivivors of your race, carrying 600,000 frozen civilians, fighting for existance and a homeworld. It was so well done.

The second story was kinda weird bordering on stupid at points.

Anywho, you should be able to pick up HW1 somewhere for next to nothing.

Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War is also excellent.

actually, since you can pause and give commands, even that isn't real time.

AOE, AOM, and RON...or my favorite Civ.

They are not real time, but they are good strategy games.
