at'ers,

i'm working at making my system super-quiet & have had success w/a quiet fan on my heat sink, case, & psu, however, the whiny fan on the visiontek ruins it all. any suggestions on a good quality, QUIET, fan for this cards? & how do you recommend attaching it?

thanks,

joe

attaching it cant be any simpler, once u dettach the original heatsink&fan from it, u'll see that it has 8 HOLES around the GPU to fasten any heatsink u like.

what im using is a heasink&fan from celeron 633 and i just had to drill 2 hols on them and fasten it with a screw (remember, not too tight and also use non-conductive washers).

gl

mine is running happy at 245 core bwahahah.

I would suggest prying the original cheapo fan off of the heatsink using a small screwdriver at each corner; it is only held on by small plastic tabs pressed into the heatsink. Replace it with a standard CPU fan using silicon adhesive or small screws. Wire the new fan to run at +7 volts; red wire to +12 and black wire to +5 on any spare PS connector. This reduces the fan speed to a point where it is hardly hearable but still moves plenty of air.
