I'm building a gaming computer for my wife and plan on some mild OC on a Athlon II X3 440. This will also have to be a pretty quiet computer also. I have read reports that the stock fan on this heatsink even though is the plus version with a quieter fan is till pretty loud.

I want to setup a dual fan (push/pull) would it be better to buy 2 other fans or will be pk just getting another fan like what comes stock on this heatsink which is a model FA7C1212ME-SBPNA or in Cooler Master nomenclature the A12025-20CB-4BP-C1. I understand that for a CPU fan faster is not better that too much flow you dont "absorb" the heat from the cooler...Thanks

I know very little about the stock 212+ fan, but if you're going for a mild OC on a chip like that, I can't see any reason why you wouldn't just stick another stock fan on there if it can be had at a low price.

All that aside, you can't go wrong with a pair of Gentle Typhoons. The 1850 rpm version is an impressive fan.

One man's "noisy" can be another man's "cannot-hear," I guess, but I have the CM Hyper 212+ with its included fan on the "push" side, and cannot hear it even at full speed. My computer case is at floor level, so maybe it's far enough from my ears that I don't hear it.

Yeah the Gentle Typhoon should do well, maybe a 1450. They'll be quiet and have excellent static pressure which is ideal for a HS.

The included fan is a PWM fan, you should be able to set it in bios to run at various speeds at different temperature steppings. My 212 is not even audible until heavily loaded. At 100% you can certainly hear air getting pushed around, but I have certainly heard worse.

I also have used the GELID FN-PX12-15 in my HTPC, it is PWM as well and even at 100% is pretty quiet and works better than the 120mm fan included with my Scythe BiG S. Have not compared it's cooling efficiency against the OEM hyper 212 fan yet though. It supposedly has good static pressure though.
