I'm looking to upgrade my powersupply... i feel it's not really doing a good enough job... plus i need some extra juice.

I want good quality and good performance...

I run an AMD Athlon 1800+ on a ECS K7S5A mobo.
512 MB DDR PC2100

2 7200 RPM 40 GB HD's

24x CD-RW, 16x DVD

and lots of other periferals...

I want a big PS, how big is not too big... like 500W ? I think right now it's a 350W.

Thanks in advance for any help!

I'm a big fan of both Antec & Enermax PSUs. Right now I have an Enermax 400w for my dual HD - dual CD-ROM drives - 5 case fans - and Athlon XP 2100+ rig. Works fine for me.

In your case, a 450-500w PSU should be excellent. Both those brands have proven reliability & a very good track record, IMHO ;)

The Antec TruePower series should definitely be an option, they are some nice power supplies.

Extremely quiet, and plenty of power to spare.

I have a 550W, I used it originally with my dual 1800+ system. Now I have an OC'd P4 so 550 is complete overkill, but it's still a damn nice power supply.

Get a Antec PP403x or PP412x (400watt), they are as good as the true power at a cheaper price.

what in the world are you powering with this thing? a car?

seriously though, a decent (like a sparkle) 350w should be just fine, i find 550w to be a bit ridiculous unless you have a HUGE system (like...*LOTS* of drives and whatnot...)

I agree with BingBongWongFooey, you don't need that big of a power supply, as long as it is a good one. What I would suggest you is to do a search in this forum and in other and read what threads people have posted. I find that really helpful everytime I need an answer.

I hope this helps!:)

Even a Antec 330 watt truepower series power supply would be enough for $52 at newegg.com
