The best price I can find for an 2004 Inifinity q35 coupe (midnight blue, 17 wheel, premium package) is MSRP $34, 475 - $500 = 33975 through the fleet manager. Anybody knows any better deal? Thanks

Good luck finding much better than that. When I got mine they weren't going for anything less than MSRP and from what I have heard that's still the case in most dealerships.

It's also Infiniti.

If you can't spell the car manufacturer's name nor do you know the name of the car you don't deserve to have one. Go buy a Chevy.

Edit: and to stay "on topic" has anyone seen this yet?

I want that car! I hope they make an "x" version of the coupe :)

Mani: Have you looked into the ATI Procharger supercharger kit for the G35? Its doesn't affect your warranty and you can buy it from select Infiniti dealers. There's a big thread on it on Freshalloy.com. The supercharger seems to be making quite a lot of power according to the dyno.

That sounds about right. The sedan can be had for $30k, but it looks nowhere near as good and suffers a significant loss of HP too.

OK people , gimme a break. It is the Infinity G35 coupe that I have in mind. Happy now? :) Also Skoorb, the ugly sedan is lighter so it accelerates as fast if not faster than the coupe (heavily reinforced structure) even it has 20 hp less.

IT'S INFINITI!!!!!!!
The sedan is lighter by 99 lbs but has 20 less HP. 20 HP is a bigger difference than 99 lbs in all aspects of acceleration/speed.
Sedan:
260 HP
3336 lbs
power/weight ratio: 12.83:1
Coupe
280 HP
3435 lbs
power/weight ratio: 12.27:1

I have looked at it. Grubbs Infiniti in Dallas is the only dealer that installs it right now and it is no different from any other aftermarket FI from a warranty perspective. Also, it's power gains on the G35C weren't nearly as good as what it did on the Z. I'm going to hold off for a while until there is a solution that gets a it more to the wheels before I take chances on the warranty.

I thought the S/C was warrantied by the Nissan dealer? Hmm, maybe I read it wrong. Also the dyno showed approximately 300+ to teh REAR wheels...that seems very nice. What kind of blower is it though? Vortec?

I was unable to find anything at the URL you provided that shows better times for the sedan than the coupe. All the times I have seen show the coupe a tenth or two quicker than the sedan.

No, dfw_infiniti never stated it would be covered by warranty. Just that like any other FI solution, any problems would have to be traced to the blower in order to be out of warranty. 300 to the wheels is nice, but only a 60 hp upgrade...that's a lot for 5 grand.

Oh, guess I read it wrong then.

Well, you should be looking at the power curve rather than the peak value. I mean, that torque band was bloody FLAT! There's power increase THROUGH OUT the rev range, not just at the peak point.

And I'm sure you could increase that peak power even more, your probably restricted by fuel injectors and such.

In any case, its a nice base to build even more power! :)

It did increase it throughout the rev band and as is the case with most superchargers, it was much flatter than a turbo curve, but still not worth the cash. I'm gonna hold out for what GReddy comes up with or even Nismo (if they ever get off their asses and release something) before I go the FI route.

Well compared to teh power curve of the Stillen charger on the 3L VQ motors, this one is much flatter and much higher.

Man, if you think this one is pricey wait till you see Nismo's. They are known for over-pricing their items. I'm curious for GReddy's setup though, should be nice.

Its surprising at the amount of ppl on FA.com who are ready to dole out the cash for the ATI Procharger though.

Well admittedly, the dyno was done on a humid day so that may mean a few horses. Also, I suppose a belt upgrade is cheap access to more power with it. I know Nismo is typically expensive but I'm hoping they'll release some form of FI that won't cause warranty issues - that's worth quite a bit to me as I opted for the extended warranty. GReddy usually comes out with some great stuff and if they can match or beat the 350z kit's performance at a fair price it may be worth the warranty trouble.

Flyermax, below is the thread, I could be wrong but please read the discussions and let me know :

" ... Automatic Coupe vs. Sedan Comparison
#67221215 - 12/15/02 02:51 PM Edit Reply Quote

I was able to get an extensive "test drive" of the sedan when my g/f got it as a loaner from Infiniti. I drove it hard for 2 hours and was very pleased with quick acceleration, short stopping distance, and unique good looks.

I felt in love with the coupe as soon as I saw the first picture, and have been following its release for the past couple of months. My question is for those who already own an automatic coupe: how is the acceleration compared to the sedan?

For the coupe, the recent magazine articles were able to get 5.8 to 6.1 seconds from 0-60, but that was with a 6spd. Would the automatic coupe be faster than sedan's 6.2?

I know there is a 20hp difference between sedan and coupe, but I expected mid 5's for the 6spd and 6.0 for an automatic.

I'm ready to buy a coupe in a few months, but I expect it to be as fast (and hopefully faster) than a sedan.

I have a manual but I can guarantee the coupe is as fast or faster than the sedan with the same transmission.

THe trick with the auto in both cars is to make sure you "train" it right. Break it in nicely, then reset the ecu by unplugging the battery for a few hours. Then if you are an aggressive driver, lay on the gas when you drive. The reason I say this is that it is an adaptive, learning transmission. It determines when to upshift and downshift by how you drive it. So if you granny it, it will be much more leisurely and less quick to downshift when you get on it. Conversely if you always drive it like a bat out of hell, it will downshift every time you increase pedal pressure significantly.

Everything in that thread points to the Coupe being faster than the Sedan, if only by a small margin below 60mph.
