Good prescription medicine other than Ambien?

I can never sleep regardless of what I do... and I was prescribed Ambien. That sh!t ain't cool. I don't like to hallucinate and drown leprechauns in my washing machine. Anyone taking anything that works worth a damn?

I was trying to go to sleep just now and I couldn't. FWIW, I really don't want to drink myself silly either or use Benzodiazepines. So far I have struck out on sleeping medications. Thorazine blows as well... so I will pass on it too.

Do more physical exercise, that'll tire you out. When you have done enough exercise then you'll naturally be tire, at the end of the day you'll feel alot more like sleeping.

Well that would be grand and all if I wasn't tired. I am actually EXTREMELY tired, but I cannot go to sleep. See... I can be worn the fvck out and STILL be unable to sleep. In fact, I am tired all the damn time but I can never go to sleep. Thanks, however, though for the suggestion.

Trazodone. Its an antidepressent but at low doses its used as i sleep aid. I use it and i sleep through the night and i dont get any weird or bad dreams. i take 50 mg at night. when its used as an antidepressent, people take 50 mg 3 times a day.

 

Benadryl? It's OTC, and I've heard it's awesome, even if you don't have allergies.

All that crap has side effects, get some exercise & just live with it.

I totally wish it were that easy. I have had sleep problems for years now but it has gotten to the point of unbearble. Having too much energy is not the problem. I am quite tired right now as a matter of fact, but I cannot physically fall asleep.

speak fer yourself... I've found that i halucinate BIG time when i'm, on ambien...... it was SO weird. but i woke up feeling refreshed, save for the disturbing visions of pirate ships with frat parties inside, with drunk SAE guys manning the cannons.

I was perscribed Ambien once. I, like you, hated the way it made me feel. Ambien sucks!

I don't know of any other good sleeping pills though. You should probably tell your doctor that you don't like the effect the pills are having on you and you wonder if he could perscribe something different.

But it might just be in your mind. If you're actually tired, something is just keeping you up. If you say you can't go to sleep then you won't.

I take Ambien sometimes when I cant sleep. I have never gotten any hallucinations. I have never really gotten any of the side effects.

Edit: I usually only take half a 10mg pill so that might have something to do about the side effects.

Have you tried boring reading material? I'm totally serious here. I've got some really boring papers you could read. I can send them to you in PDF. The key is to really try and read them. You tell yourself you either have to read them or fall asleep.
