Hey, I am looking for a good portable MP3 player and I thought that you might have some suggestions. The player should be fairly cheap (under $200, maybe $250 if it's really good) have at least 128MB, have a CompactFlash slot (or another kind, if you convince me why it's better :) ). I would also prefer if it was the kind that you simply plug into a USB port and it appears as an external hard drive.

It should also look either decent or very good, nothing in between--basically, box-like, metal preferably but plastic will do, as long as it's not hideous.

Right now, I'm trying to decide between the DIVA and the eDigital MXP 100. If you have any other suggestions, please share.

Thanks.

If you don't mind burning CDs full of MP3s, I recommend the Rio Volt. I've had mine for a few months now and it's one of the best pieces of music hardware I've ever bought. Pretty inexpensive too.

Why not spend the extra $100 and buy and iPod? Some would say that Firewire and 5GB justifies the pricetag.

I went to Fry's today and looked at the Ipod, and frankly it didn't seem that impressive. Those earbuds didn't even fit in my ear, they were way too large. It was kind of heavy too, and it didn't seem that it was worth the $399.

Plus, I would probably not want to carry the Ipod everywhere, too expensive.
