I know nothing about cameras, can you guys point me to some good general purpose point and shoot cameras? right now the budget is $300. i'm getting tired of my phone pics looking like crap when i am further than 10 ft

Canon S100 or if you want to save money a used S95 is almost as good at everything other than video which the S100 is much better at.

I love the Panasonic LX3, but even used or refurbished I dont know if you can get one for 300 bucks.
