I'm looking for a new phone now that my previous contract just expired.

My close friend has a palm treo, it's really an indespensible tool for him for organizing his time and tasks. He's able to keep track of everything meticulously and in detail with it.
I'm probably one of the worst people at time management and organization.

So, I'm hoping to get a PDA phone or something of the sort that has a great calendar/organizer/planner where I can quickly put in tasks, deadlines, and be able to set alarm reminders for them.

I've done that with my current cell phone, but it's a pain in the butt to use. First of all, typing with the numpad sucks. And secondly, I often want to set a routine task. Instead of manually making a new task and typing the same entry in over and over for every date I want, I want to be able to copy a certain task, and copy it to whatever date(s) I want. Preferablly, I want to be able to have the option to add in entries by day of the week or time of the day.

I just looked at the blackberries. I noticed that it required me to sign up to a blackberry service(i'm guessing for wireless web access anywhere). I don't need that feature, and can probably do fine with just an occaisional usage with wifi access points.
I don't want to pay the $30/mo or so extra for the service.

I'd also prefer a slide out keyboard, so that I have a phone that actually looks like a phone, and not a huge PDA. But if the PDA phones are significantly better for what I want, then I wouldn't mind lugging it around.

Any recommendations?

For what you want I dont that you will get a free one...maybe 99 bucks or something. Just basing off of what you said, I would recommend a Windows Mobile based phone, and check out an app called Facade. Google knows where it is.

well give me some models...
considering the blackberry 8310 is -$75 after rebate, I think you can get a pretty darn good one for $0. but either way, if i see a good one, i'll fork the money out for it.

I'm pretty sure all of the carries require a data plan for all PDA phones
even if they don't, dropping it within the first 181 days will usually result in losing rebates and possibly retrocharging any instant discounts
