I was thinking about waiting of the fps but then again, I'm not sure if it is worth it.

I could buy the basic model now (about $130). By the time there are actually any games that use the x-ram on the fatality I figure that card will down to at least $200 (probally less). Then I could sell my basic x-fi for around $40.

So really, cost wise, I would spend the same amount but I would have x-fi now (instead of waiting for however long it will be until the fatality is released.

Does this sound good or should I just waiti it out for the fatality?

P.S. Most of my gaming is in BF2 (and the reviews stated that they saw no benefit with the fatality.

Wait it out. Not much sense having the technology today if you cant use it. Unless it gives you a benifit over what you currently have and are running.

Games aren't made to take advantage of X-Ram now, and probably not for years. If you want higher FPS, drop some more money into your video card.

Are you looking for better sound quality or better performance? Both?

What speakers are you using?

If you can't afford a fatality right now, but want one eventually when there's more support for it, maybe just get an Audigy2 zs for now and wait until the fatality comes down in price.

The A2 should be very good for sound quality and in charts I've seen the A2 has almost as good performance as the x-fi for taking load off the CPU.

I'm looking for both.

I have creatives s750 (the 7.1 setup).

It seems like a waste to go the A2 now that the x-fi is out. True that the x-fi prices will drop but I do not think it will happen as fast as everyone thinks. Remember, creative does not have any real competition in this field.

Is there something specifically on the X-Fi that you're wanting?

The main appeal I'm seeing vs the A2 is the better headphone effects.

I'm not sure if the deal is going on now still, but you could get an A2 ZS for under $40 last week. (newegg has the A2 value for $40 at least)

You said yourself that you were thinking of waiting for the price to come down on the fatality model. Ironically the fatality was already on sale for $199 and now the price is back up to retail.

To me you plan doesn't make much sense.

Spend $130 on a soundcard and wait for the fatality to come down to $200 and then sell the original for $40?

Final cost = $290 + the effort of buying two cards and finding a buyer for your first card once you want to sell it

My option

Spend $40? on an A2 zs that's nearly as good as the x-fi from what I've seen and wait for the fatality to be $200
Sell the A2 for $25?

Final cost = $215 + same effort as above

Other option:

Just get a fatality right now

Final cost = $280? + no additional effort

Actually the Xi-Fis use more CPU cycles than the Audigy 2 series for EAX games. Since EAX5 games aren't out yet, I don't think thats the reason.

Some of the x-fis have good analog output, which will limit any future drop in price.
