I am helping a teacher at our school buy a laptop. My problem is I only know a few trustable places to go for good laptops. I need a few recomendations for where to go. So far Im thinking,

Powernotebooks.com
newegg.com (yah not much for laptops, but they are great at everything else :))
dell.com

Any other recommendations would be great. I really dont know what he is looking for, but im guessing best bang for the buck.

As a side note, he found northgate.com, I have nver heard of it and have a sneaking suspicion that it is not to be trusted, (1 review at resellerratings saying they canceled order after a Product in stock mess)

here is an update from him, He says that he has to have,
512MB of ram
DVD/CD-RW Drive
about a 1-2 hour battery life.
1200-1300 price range,

The only one I can find in those specifications is the Dell 8600,

Dell.com and buy the extended 3 year service. Laptops die. You will need it. R
