Good place to get golf clubs?

My g/f's brother is getting some golf clubs as a grad present. What's a good place (B&M or online) to look for them, and what is a good set for a "so-so" player (i.e. not beginner but not a "good" golfer by any means)

Its been like 10 years since I played golf. So I don't know. I do know you can spend a small fortune in clubs though. I would say go to a pro shop look at the clubs and see how they are made and what features they have. Then look around for cheaper ones with similar features. Unless you're rich don't buy them at a pro shop.
