I'm looking for a good place to get a 1.2GHz Tbird that has at least a 1 year warranty. Let me know where you guys get yours...

You can check Pricewatch (which I just did), but If your looking to get a 1 year warranty, the one that stood out to me was directron.com. It was $280. I just bought some stuff from them last week, 2 orders. They seemed pretty easy to deal w/. In fact I rma one of the orders back w/ absolutely no hassle. Their cpu comes w/ a fan which means that if you want that 1 year warranty your best not to remove the fan from the cpu. I guess it just depends on whether you plan on overclocking or not. If not, I saw that Lynn Computer co. had a 1.2 w/ heatsink and fan in the retail box w/ a 3 year warranty for $289. Just a few suggestions.

I don't even see a directron.com on pricewatch then I went to the site and they are selling the 1.2GHz for $339! that is expensive!

Try IcompZ, they have them for $268 + shipping. Only catch is you must call them to order for that price. I have received 2 1.1G Athlons with a great shopping experience.

Must order the Global Win FOP 32 or Global Win FOP 38 to get 1 year warranty.

I already have a Fop32-1 :(

I e-mailed icomp asking if they would give me the 1year warranty since I already owned a Fop32-1... Heh it's worth a try I guess.

parauhd0x, the just went through the exact same thing you are. :)

after my 1.1ghz fiasco i definitely wanted 1 year warrenty on my 1.2ghz. after looking around the best place i saw was from pricewatch actually. most places with the best prices require you to buy a $20 or so fan and tack on more shipping, jetting the initial pricewatch quote to well over $320.

even icompz which has awesome prices require you to buy a globalwin fan, the trick was to find the place w/ the cheapest fan that would still give you the warrenty. call the top places on pricewatch that are out of state- so you avoid sales tax, and find out the the total cost of the chip/shipping/fan would be w/ a 1yr warrenty. i think i got mine for $290 shipped ground, $303 2day air from Thompson's Computer Warehouse by buying a $12 coolermaster fan (that'll just end up in my junk pile anyway.) not a bad price, but they won't have any in stock until early this week- monday till wednesday, they're not certain. so my chip isn't bound to arrive anytime then next week at the earliest- sucks but i can hold out.

by then though the 1.3ghz may have already arrived from AMD, so if you wait until over the course of this week the price cuts for the 1.2 may be quite a chunk of change.

Have you tried overclocking yours? If so, to what?

Did you get a Dresden copper chip? I.e., did it say Dresden on it? Was the center of it bluish?

I'm trying to scope out where to buy a 1.0 or 1.1ghz from, and get maximum Dresden overclockability.

you might just want to shell out a few more clams and buy a 1.2ghz.. they're already unlocked and all of them have copper interconnects i believe.

And as far as overclocking, the highest i've seen a 1.2ghz t-bird system go is 1.65ghz, not too shabby eh? :)

try Micro-Pro I have bought from them many times and they offer one with a heatsink and a 1 year warranty for under $300
