If you want top quality Panasonic or Yuasa batteries, check DigiKey.com
Did you google on- UPS replacement batteries - ? And there is a place in Fon du Lac that's good for batteries - Fedcoelectronics.com, yeah, that's it...
Look Here. They have very reasonable prices on SLA batteries. They sell a number of brands. I highly recommend Panasonic or Enersys/Yuasa. I don't recommend PowerSonic. Also, all the batteries I've bought from them have been quite fresh (not sitting on a shelf/in a warehouse for too long) which is important with SLA batteries.
I buy my UPS batteries at a local battery shop. It's a dirty place that specializes in truck batteries but they sell sealed lead acids, too. And they'll recycle the dead UPS batteries for free. Much cheaper than buying online. Check your local yellow pages. Be aware that you'll need to tell them the specs of your battery (dimensions, amp-hours). They probably won't know what a UPS is let alone have a cross reference available that tells them what kind of battery goes in an "APC SmartUPS 1500" or whatever...
U may want to check for a local Interstate battery store also. I was getting batteries cheap from Interstate when my previous company had an account with them. We where Liebert UPS reps.
As you have probably found by now, there is a tremendous variation in price for exactly the same battery. I have three of the APC Smart UPS 1000's (which I do not buy the APC batteries for since they cost four times what I can replace them for using other sources) in which I use PowerSonic PS 6100F1 batteries. Even on the exact same batteries the prices vary from nearly $30 to around $10. The last time I replaced them I bought a case from Wholesale Battery for around $10 each. The shipping by truck is not bad. Wholesale Battery now has a replacement for the PS6100 (12v 12ah) that I do not have any experience with. I have used Yuasa and PowerSonic and both lasted about the same length of time for me, but comments here suggest other people favor Yuasa.
Do a goggle search by the battery number. You will find several battery wholesalers whose prices are far better than you can do in a retail outlet. Unless money is no object, do not consider the APC replacement batteries -- they are grossly overpriced.
PS
A brief search suggests you should be able to get your batteries for around $9 in case lots. This place
has them for $10.83 each, and I saw them for as little as $9.99 each. As I said truck shipping isn't bad. You would need to call to find the price in case lots -- and the number of batteries in a case. I paid less than $25 for shipping 16 batteries.
I believe (but am not sure) the place I mentioned has a 1 year warranty on most batteries. I'm fairly sure APC does not have a 3 year warranty on batteries, as most SLA batteries only last 3-5 years (though I've seen plenty of Panasonics go far longer). They may have changed it, but in the past APC has only had a 2 year warranty on their UPS's.
I looked at the warranty, and seems good:
"6 Year Service Life/ 2 Year Warranty Under Float Service @77°F"
They (Tempest) are based in the US it seems: http://www.tempestbatteries.com/index.html
Also, how can you tell if the original is .250 or .187 Fast on connector? Look the same to me?
