Good Pens Which Do Not Smear

There was a fancy pen thread not too long ago which got me looking into new pens. For work I need to have black, blue and red inks (preferably green too).

The pens I settled on were Uniball Signo 207 Micro for try. They write very nicely and was very impressed with them at first. After a while, I noticed my work starting to smear, even days afterwards if I rubbed my finger or hand across it. Is this a trait of all Gel pens?

Can anyone recommend some good, cheap pens that I can use for work (up to $10 per pen)? I may be able to justify paying $20-30 per pen as long as good refills are available. The pens must be available in the three previously mentioned colors and NOT easily smear.

Thanks!

Get a pen that uses standard ball point refills. Cross, Parker... They write well, are smear resistant, and cheap. If you want to spend a touch more, space pens are nice, but I don't know if they come in all the colors you want.

Thanks for the link.

I'm leaning towards giving the Zebra F series a try. Any thought?

Has anyone used the 1.0mm tip F series? How does its writing compare with the 0.7mm?

I use Pentel and Pilot pens (specifically, Sliccis and Hi-Tec-Cs) without a problem. I've never heard of a gel pen smearing days after you write with it. Does your finger secrete droplets of water all the time?

If you want something oil-based, my favorite ballpoint is the Uniball/Mitsubishi Jetstream in 0.5mm. It writes super smooth and very slick, much more like a .3 or .4 tip. Typical ballpoints write very fat and aren't that smooth, at least in my experience. the Jetstream is the only ballpoint I use nowadays, and I always keep one in my pocket because it's so nice to write with.

I have been using the Sharpie pens for a while now.
They work pretty well and do not smear on standard paper.

I've always like the Pilot G-2 05 pens. They have a nice weight, are relatively cheap so you don't mind losing them, are comfortable, and they last a long time.
