Hi,

Im rebuilding my PC and have an EP45 DS3R which is okay and uses the P45
chipset, but i just picked up an older GA 965P DQ6 which has coolers all over
the motherboard and was probably a higher end board than the newer EP45.

I want to overclock my E7500 to 3.6 or 4 if possible. Which one would be
better?

thanks

Jon

If your case cooling is OK, there is no need for those heatsinks. The EP45 will use less power for voltage regulation, and an E7500 is not a high power chip to start with (with the 1066 bus, it's an ideal overclocker). The (E)P35-DS3 and (E)P45-DS3 also have quite a rep for stable overclocks.

ditto everyone else. Not even sure 965 is fully compatible with "newer" 775 processors.

IIRC, P965 was released after Core 2 and was designed to work with the series. The DQ6 in particular supports 45nm C2 as well.
