I want to overclock my 1700+ AMD Athlon, would this be a good overclock? 166x11 (multiplier at default) = 1826 mhz. Everything else at default. Please evaluate, thanks. MB is a7n8x. asus.

well, you just made your 1700+ into a 2200+ so i dont see how it's not a good OC. but if you have a T-bred B you can get a lot more out of it

I wanted to get it evaluated since I left everything on default, the v-core, multiplier, memory timing, etc. All I did was change the FSB. Wanted to know if it's safe to do so. I have good cooling, "OC choice Cooler Master" loud, but keeps it 31C on default settings.

the lower the Vcore, the safer it is. basically, you wanna push the chip as much as possible before bumping the vcore up

So there is no need for me to raise the v-core to 1.6? Will I get more performance out of it if I raise the vcore?

yes you will! but heat becomes an issue and you may kill the chip with too much voltage as well ;)

but i think it's a risk worth taking hehehe..

as long as you keep the voltage under 1.85, you should be okay

at default, if you have a tbred b, you should be able to make it to at least 2.0 ghz or even 2.1

after that point, you'l have to up the vcore to get a higher o/c...

be sure to watch your temps as well
