Just wondering what luck anyone has had or what people have heard about the Powmax Demon series PSU's. The 480w one specifically. Thanks.

Powmax makes terrible PSU's. I would not even take the chance. What system is this going to be powering? Also what is your price range?

In my mind, it is doubtful that these two units could even produce their rated wattage in real world conditions. Furthermore, the fact that the two power supplies, though 100W in difference, look exactly the same paired next to each other leave much to question whether they can really output as much power as they say.

Link.

So don`t bother,if you are on a budget look at something like the Antec SmartPower 450w model,we can help you more if you give us your PC specs for your PSU.

Specs are:

AMD Athlon 64 3400+
DFI Lanparty UT nF3 250Gb
Corsair XMS 512x2 PC3200
XFX GeForce 6600GT

I just ordered my whole computer from Newegg so my budget isn't huge. Like 50 dollars or so. Also, my case is Aspire and it has a 350w PSU. Would that be any good? Compared to the Powmax?

Thanks.

Powmax PSU's are horrible, don't touch them. Unless you have tons of drives, your setup isn't that wild. A 380W Antec should be able to handle it.

Dont skimp on your PSU. It is the MOST important piece of equipement in your PC. If you dont have the money for a decent one right now save and get it.

The Aspire will be better than the powmax but it is a low end entry level PSU. I would save another 20 or more bucks. Seasonic Super Tornado series are AWESOME PSU's. If you are so inclined, Enermax makes very high quality PSU's and although they are in need of an update the Antec TRUEPowers are legendary.

This is a HUGE overkill for your system from what i can tell, but Zippy, OCZ, and PC Power and Cooling are the best of the best. You simply dont get any better, but they come with a price premium.

Too bad I bought one already. Oh well, it was only 26 dollars. I think I'm going to get the OCZ one. Should I get the 450w ModStream or spend 10 extra dollars and get the 420w PowerStream? And since I just spend $1000 on all the parts for my computer I'm gonna build, I'm gonna wait awhile to get it so the 350w Aspire one will allow me to just keep everything stable right? I'm only going to be running a cd burner and one HDD.

Thanks.

Agreed.

POWMAX is one of the worst PSU's you could buy.
