Does anyone know of a good online store that isn't located in California? I usually look at newegg or zipzoomfly for parts, but I'm planning on putting together a big build and I want to avoid sales tax. Is there somewhere that has as good of a reputation as those stores? Thanks a lot.

Directron (http://www.directron.com ), but generally their prices are higher then newegg / mwave / zzf, so the lack of sales tax makes no difference. The major players are all located in Cali, so we get stuck paying sales tax.

Hm,

Their inventory seems quite limited too. I guess I'll just stick with newegg. Thanks for the info.

there's monarchcomputer.com . However i do not have any experience with them. I'm also building a computer and i am also in cali and i am currently looking for non-cali stores to avoid the tax. i'll try to post some more stores if i find any alternatives to newegg or zzf.

I've had good service with monarchcomputer.com. They have decent prices too...beats the heck out of paying 8.25% tax or whatever it is. :)

I checked out monarch. They do seem pretty good, they have a 3000+ winchester for $150, the vid cards and corsair XL ram I was looking at were pretty good too, I think just a few dollars more than newegg. I'll probably end up getting a few parts from them. Thanks for the info. Now to decide on the case.

axiontech.com (texas) very good and cheap
futurepowerpc.com (ny) very good and cheap, free shipping

but why can't you just order each component where it's cheapest overall, be it california or not ? just use pricewatch or pricegrabber
