Good online chess education site?

for someone trying to learn the very basics of chess for the first time -- any good suggestions for a free, online site?

so far, I've found:
http://chess.about.com/library/blrules.htm

which seems alright, but the more info. I can find, the better -- just curious if anyone on here has undertaken this same task online.

TIA!

I haven't found many good chess websites for learning chess strategy. What you need to do is first rent Searthing for Bobby Fischer. It's the story of Josh Waitzkin. The go get his book Josh Waitzkin's Attacking Chess It's a $12 book that will take you to the mid-level of the game (1200).

Watch the movie, it's great even if your not a chess buff. It'll make the book more interesting, as Josh references stuff in the book that happened in the movie.
