What kinda price range are we looking at? What kind of performance level? Without those two, I know precisely squat about a Supra RZ.

OK, that takes care of one... $15,000 is a pretty big price gap, though. You can get a Viper for under $80K, & modify it. My guess would be an $80K Viper would kick ass on an $80K Supra.

You forgot to tell us how fast it is.

1989-1995 Lingenfelter ZR-1

Viper? Nah, I'll take my ZR-1, modded by Lingenfelter, in Canary Yellow. OUCH!

The new Lingenfelter Twin Turbo C5 Corvettes are pretty fast too. Cost about $107,000 though. :)

Hennessey Motor Sports, located in Texas, produces the Viper Venom series of Viper mods. They range in HP from 500 - 700, with torque ratings to match.

If you want to see something really impressive, go look at their dyno readings for their top of the line Viper mod. It's automotive porn at it's best.

A Viper GTS can be had for around $80K, that could definitly burn a Supra. If in Japan, a Skyline R34 would definitly be a contender, I'm not sure about the exact price though, it's not a whole lot more than a Supra.

stock the skyline is around 90 thousand and actually if you use the good parts on the Supra it should be able to burn a Skyline but maybe not on a drag

Stock in America? I know those get up there in price for the imported version that'll soon be here, but I coulda swore that they were a little cheaper than that when you converted from yen->us$, but maybe not *shrug*

With the Supra turbo, you can easily get 500-600hp to the wheels... that thing is sooo under-rated... with very little modifying you can get that kind of power with stock reliablility.... If you get a used one and modified, you can easily beat a Viper for the same price...

Just my 2 cents...

4.Supra Twin Turbo...drool
3.Acura NSX...Drool
2.Nissan Skyline...DROOL
1.Porsche 959...DROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL:)

I believe this is the order in which the cars finished a track labelled Ashi-no-ko Skyline. I forgot, but it was a big thing when the Skyline came out, because it shattered the previous record set by an Acura NSX..and well the Porsche 959 is a faster car, so I expect better times:)

I have a video clip on my computer of a Supra doing 889 rwhp..
wow

with $80k, you're gonna make a damn fast car. I'm sure I can get my Prelude into the 10 or 11 second range using new cams, valves, pulleys, a turbocharger, intake, headers, exhaust, and a NOS kit.

Skylines are not 90,000 dollars. More like 50-60K depending on options for the R35 Skyline. You can get R34 Skylines over here in the states for about 55k.

For 80k you could make a screamer MKIV. HKS's project supra and a couple of racing groups in Japan have gotten a good 900HP from the Supra block. Yeesh. :)

How about 510HP in a MKII MR2? That oughta be an uncontrollably duo! But I bet it'd kick some mondo ass, being so light and all. Sorta why we see all those CRXs on the dragstrips.

Wah...all I want is a 1990 VW Corrado G60 w/ Neuspeed's HP KIT III and Neuspeed cams, Neuspeed short shift, new headers, 17" TSW Hockenheims, and Eibach Lowering Kit. Everything else stock...make the car look nicer, but not speeding ticket friendly...that's all I want. Unfortunately I spend too much money on this computer, and I have to spend more money to get my current car to sellable condition. Help me out here:D

I agree with BCYL....The Supra is way way WAY under rated. People think I over rate it but I don't think so. Look at this way it's been gone for about 5 years here in America and were still putting it up to the new cars and comparing. It's a kick ass car that car beat most cars on a drag and other race. I want them to do something and make Supras again in America. My friend wanted to modify his MR2 but had no cash so it remains stock for a while.
