good old dell support

what is the point of typing in my service code if the tech on the other end has to ask me for it again and the phone system doesn't route me to the right place?

not really, i've replaced every component in every dell laptop i think... be glad you have a newer one, the ones two generations ago had 80 or so screws to take out to switch out the motherboard

Everytime I call them, I ask the same question. They never have an answer...but I figure if I continue asking, maybe they'll fix it.

well let me know the model of your laptop and i can probably get you the tech manual in PDF form with pictures and everything so you may not have to call them when the correct part comes!

meh, my express service code sends me to enterprise, though i'm a soho customer. i should really learn to wait until it stops asking and just puts me through.

wow, that took a long time. replacing mobo and processor, more than i expected.

ok they've replaced the mobo and processor. it then dropped down to 600 mhz for no apparent reason. so when they called and asked how they did, i told them about it, and they sent out another mobo and processor. well, that didn't fix it either. thinking it was overheating because they never reapplied thermal goop, i put some artic silver on there. that isn't working either. so now i'm going to call them again. maybe they'll send out a new computer.
